What was it overwhelming to break so big so young?
MYA: I wouldnât call it overwhelming. You donât register whatâs happening. You canât process it because youâre moving so fast. Itâs different for me now because Iâm independent and get to really value things because it is on my own time.What do you think of the current state of R&B?
MYA: I love where music is because you can make fusions, you can fuse genres together but you can also go in different lanes. Usherâs doing dance music. A lot of urban or R&B artists have crossed over and taken those risks. Itâs just world music. It feels good. People wanna party!Who are you listening to at the moment?
MYA: His name has been floating around recently, but Iâve always liked his music since I first heard it â Frank Ocean definitely gets my seal of approval. Cee-Lo â Iâve always been a fan of his, and heâs taken on this new sound and itâs incredible. Heâs a very talented guy.What happened with your unreleased fourth album?
MYA: I moved to Motown from Interscope Records in 2005 and I started working on Liberation in 2006. It was supposed to come out the same year, but the release date was pushed back a couple of times. On the final change of the release date, it was not held back in Japan, so it was accidentally released and from there it leaked everywhere online.That prompted you to go independent?
MYA: My lawyer told me, you can either spend time in court suing them and spend more money â more time and get a headache, or you can go independent. Itâs just a little detail that was overlooked that cost years of transitioning from a label to another label. All that work in the studio was gone.

Emily B from the NYC’s version of the black soap opera ‘Love and Hip Hop’ has finally set the record straight that her and Mimi Faust are NOT dealing with the same situations.
With the new series of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta taking off and leading the whole series into a whole new level, some of the cast has been compared to the old faces of the reality series.
Unfortunately Emily B isn’t to fond of the comparisons between her and some of the ladies on the show. She actually wants people to understand that even if the show has similar situations they are still totally different.

âYou know I get a little upset when they compare characters because Iâm nothing like any of those women. My story is not like any of those stories. I donât see Fab in any of those men in that show at all. No offense to them, but nobody knows [how it is]. Yâall get to see the Stevie Jâs and the Lilâ Scrappyâs and nobody really knows who Fab is or what he does or what heâs about.
